Former NLSC employee files suit after not being paid vacation time

BEDFORD – Tawnya Jones has filed a lawsuit against the North Lawrence Community Schools in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

The suit was filed on April 9, 2024.

Jones became an employee at the school on August 3, 1997. She was paid $18.77 an hour. While working 52 weeks for the cooperation, she earned 120 hours of vacation time, which she could use on July 1, 2021.

Jones left her job on June 18, 2022, without being paid for her 120 hours of vacation time.

Attorney Ronald E. Weldy of Wedly Law claims the school corporation violated the Wage Payment Statute by not paying her for her earned vacation. They are seeking wages owed, liquidated damages, prejudgement interest, attorney fees, and the cost of this action.
