Judge sentences a man to prison after failing to show up for probation meetings and roadcrew

BEDFORD— Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced a Marengo man to prison for failing to attend his probation meetings and roadcrew.

Judge Cline sentenced 24-year-old Kyle Majors to 510 days at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Kyle Majors

Majors was placed on probation on July 6, 2023, after pleading guilty in a negotiated plea deal to possession of meth, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 545 days in prison with 519 days suspended. He was given credit for 26 days served. Majors was placed on supervised probation for 545 days.

His probation was terminated unsuccessfully on December 31, 2024, and a warrant was issued for his arrest after Majors failed to attend several scheduled probation appointments. He also failed to remain in contact with his probation officer. He also failed to complete 40 hours of community service or roadcrew successfully or complete the A.D.A.P.T program as required by the terms of his plea deal.

Judge Cline revoked Majors’s probation and sentenced him to the Indiana Department of Corrections for 510 days.

Lawrence County Prosecutor Sam Arp

“Majors was given every opportunity to succeed, but he ultimately held the keys to his prison cell,” said Prosecutor Sam Arp. “When I offer probation in lieu of a prison sentence, I expect you to work hard and show up. Probation is designed to give you a shot at self-improvement, and you just can’t get there if you don’t put in the work.”
