Bedford City Council re-establishes Cumulative Capital Development Fund for capital projects and infrastructure improvements

BEDFORD – The Bedford City Council Meeting was held Tuesday night at the Stonegate Arts and Education building.

At the meeting, the Cumulative Capital Development Fund was re-established. This is not a new tax, nor is it a tax increase. This is the annual request to renew the collection of a property tax already in place. It raises funds each year for capital projects and infrastructure improvements in the city. 

The zoning map was amended from 515 N Street from B1 Convenience Business District to Residential Small Lot R3.

The City of Bedford annually applies for a grant under the Federal Transit Act. This allows for funds for the city transit system, and the city council authorized the application for the grant.

The council approved the payment for a bed to go on the chassis of a firetruck.

Councilwoman Kathy Blackburn thanked Luke Pinnick and the Fire Department for their action
during the fire that destroyed Laundry Village and for preserving the buildings around it.

Mayor Craig stated that although turnout was low on the day of the Solar Eclipse on
On Monday, April 8th, the city was fully prepared and staffed. Although traffic wasn’t as high as projected, the city was fully prepared to accommodate it.
