Two face drug charges following a traffic stop

BEDFORD – Two Bloomington residents were detained on Friday, April 12, after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy make a traffic stop.

Police arrested 39-year-old Sarah Pickens and 49-year-old Eric Kern on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Officer Brenten Trueblood conducted a traffic stop on a white 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driver for failure to signal a turn at Newton and Breckenridge Roads.

The driver didn’t stop until Rawlins Mill Road and Breezy Hill Lane.

The driver was Eric Kern. He was asked to exit the vehicle.

The passenger was Kern’s sister, Sarah Pickens. In her purse, police found a baggy containing crystal meth.

Both were detained.

Kern was also issued a warrant for failure to use his turn signal.
