BEDFORD— The Bedford Police Department has received a report from a resident who said they received a scam call from someone pretending to be a Bedford Police Officer.
The caller ID showed that it came from the department’s phone number, 812-275-3311. The caller told the resident they were under investigation and needed to pay money to make it disappear.
This is a scam.
If you receive a call like this that seems suspicious, please get the officer’s name and tell them you will call back. Then call Bedford Police Department dispatch at 812-275-3311 and tell them you just received a call from that officer so that dispatch can confirm if this is a legitimate call.
