10,000 Queen of the Nights Tulips sprouting at Vevay historical mansion

VEVAY – To experience a unique sight, travel to Vevay to experience 10,000 black tulips in bloom.

Katherine von Drachenberg, known professionally as Kat Von D, is a Mexican-American tattoo artist, television personality, entrepreneur, and recording artist who shared that in November, she was planting tulips in a field near her Vevay home to bring some unique beauty to her community and had something for people to enjoy.   

Kat Von D purchased the home in 2020, known as the Schenck Mansion built in 1874 by Benjamin Franklin Schenck, the son of the “Hay King” Ulysses Schenck. Kat Von D purchased the historic Second Empire-style castle with 35-rooms filled with antiques for $1.5 million.

She recently shared an update on her new Instagram page promoting her town of Vevay. and that the tulips are finally starting to come up.

“I’ve always been fascinated by unique-colored plants, and I’ve always had a dream of starting a unique plant garden at my house. I was always inspired to do this,” said Von D.
