Superior STEAM is a year-long youth development program through the Lawrence County Purdue 4-H Extension Office. They aim to inspire and teach the next generation of scientists, artists, engineers, innovators, and leaders. The club offers various activities to expose students of all ages to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) principles.

This event is hosted annually and has a new challenge that must be solved using LEGO Education robotics software and hardware. Teams had a choice between the EV3 system and the newer Spike system. The Castle Crashers’ challenge was about clearing the field (a wooden board) of the foam castle pieces–the quickest, without penalties, wins.

Superior STEAM took three teams of one member to the event and came away with every team in the top five of their division–including 1st (Champion) and 2nd (Reserve Champion) place.

If you want to participate in next year’s challenge, contact your local 4-H extension office with questions. If you are interested in participating in Superior STEAM’s other APPs (Annual Pipeline Programs), visit superiorsteam.org/apps to learn more.
