Indiana State Police conducting death investigation in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post initiated a death investigation on Sunday, February 18th, following a request from Monroe County Sheriff Ruben Marté.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Zikes Road, south of Bloomington. The reporting homeowner advised an unknown male had pulled into the driveway and started ramming the homeowner’s parked vehicle.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies learned the unknown male was suffering from a medical emergency and attempted to deploy Narcan with assistance from the local fire department. EMS was contacted, and upon arrival at the scene, they attempted further medical treatment.

EMS efforts at providing medical treatment were unsuccessful, and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Bloomington Post arrived at the scene and initiated the death investigation.

During the preliminary stages of the investigation, ISP Detectives determined the nature of the male subject’s injuries was not consistent with the application of use of force, and the matter remains an active investigation.

An autopsy is pending. There is nothing further to be released at this time.
