Judge Cline sentences man to prison

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced a Norman man back to prison after failing to comply with the terms of his probation.

Chris D. Hawkins

Chris D. Hawkins, 31, Norman, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more, a Level 6 Felony, and to being a Habitual Vehicular Substance Offender on August 3, 2022, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement. Hawkins was sentenced to 1275 days, with ten days served in the Lawrence County Jail and 365 days served on home detention, the remainder of his sentence suspended. He was ordered to serve 180 days on supervised probation in exchange for his guilty plea.

After failing to comply with the terms and conditions of his probation on February 13, 2024, Judge Cline sentenced Hawkins to serve 890 days in the Indiana Department of Correction.

The State will often settle a case with a plea agreement allowing the defendant to correct his/her course in life. If the defendant ignores the opportunity, Judge Cline has repeatedly proven that he will hold them accountable for their actions, said Prosecutor Sam Arp.
