DAVIESS CO. – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department reports that the Kentucky State Police apprehended 63-year-old Joseph Smith of Odon in Fredonia, Kentucky.
Smith appeared in court in Caldwell County, Kentucky, and was ordered back to Indiana. He was transported back to the Daviess County Security Center, where he will face two counts of escape from home detention along with a petition to revoke his probation on dealing in Schedule 2 controlled substance, a Level 2 felony.
Smith was discovered to have fled home detention by removing his monitoring device on Monday, January 8, 2024. On the same date, 42-year-old Jodi Skaggs was found deceased in Smith’s apartment.
The investigation into Skagg’s death is still ongoing at this time.
