Crawfordsville man arrested after a pursuit

TIPPECANOE CO. – Sunday, just after 2:00 a.m., Probationary Indiana State Trooper Gage Walters and his field training officer, Trooper Francisco Miramontes, patrolled Veterans Memorial Parkway near 9th Street. Troopers attempted to stop a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan for speeding.

The driver was later identified as Cole Williams, 28, from Crawfordsville, failed to stop and fled south on 9th Street before turning onto Valley Forge Road.

Troopers continued to pursue the Dodge east on Valley Forge Road before it turned south on John Adams Road. The Dodge continued south and passed Pennypacker Mill Road before stopping. Williams fled from his vehicle on foot but was safely taken into custody. Once Williams was in custody, troopers located marijuana on his person.

During the investigation, troopers were able to develop information to believe that Williams had operated the vehicle while under the influence. Williams was transported to an area hospital for a certified test before being transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail on charges of resisting arrest with a vehicle, resisting arrest by fleeing, possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment, and reckless driving.

Trooper Miramontes and Probationary Trooper Walters were assisted at the scene by other troopers from the Lafayette Post, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Lafayette Police Department, and Tippecanoe County EMS.
