BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence senior Madisyn Bailey was named the Player of the Week for District 3 by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
Bailey, a Marian University recruit, averaged 18.0 points per game while powering the Stars to their 13th consecutive Class 4A sectional triumph. BNL conquered New Albany, Silver Creek and No.5 Jennings County en route to the crown.
In the three tournament games, Bailey had 18 points against New Albany, 12 against Silver Creek, and a career-high 24 points in the thrilling win over the Panthers in the final. She also added 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.7 steals during her sectional performances while hitting 19 of 29 shots (including 8 of 11 from 3-point range). She was also the defensive catalyst as the Stars allowed only 34.7 points per game during the sectional wins.
Other winners for the week included Laniah Davis of Marquette Catholic (Distrcit 1) and Sophia Morrison of Eastbrook (District 2).
