Man uses company credit card for personal purchases and is arrested

SEYMOUR – An arrest occurred after a Seymour restaurant was found to be the victim of an employee who took funds using a company credit card.

According to the Seymour Police Department Lieutenant C. J. Foster, the investigation began in October 2023 when the owner of Brewski’s Downtown contacted police about an employee who had used a company credit card for personal purchases that totaled nearly $500.

Subpoenas were issued for transaction records, and the unauthorized credit use was linked to an IT specialist for the business, 29-year-old Spencer A. Kindred of Seymour.

Police tried to interview Kindred in mid-January, but he declined. An arrest warrant was issued for his arrest on January 25, 2024.

On Tuesday, Kindred turned himself in at the Jackson County Jail. He is facing three counts of fraud.
