Woman’s body found in ditch identified

BLOOMINGTON — A woman found dead in a roadside ditch on Sunday afternoon has been identified as 37-year-old Jade Sanders of Bloomington, the Monroe County coroner said Tuesday.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning. A preliminary cause of death will be shared once the autopsy is completed.

Police say Sanders was a transient.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Walnut Street at 3:20 p.m. after dispatch received a 911 call from a motorist who reported he thought he saw a body in some brush off the west side of the road.

When officers arrived, they found the body of Sanders in the ditch in a patch of brush.

Walnut Street was closed for several hours while police conducted an investigation.

Anyone with information about the woman’s death is to call BPD Detective Chris Scott at 812-339-4477.
