Bedford’s 12U Little League Indiana State Champions recognized

BEDFORD – Bedford’s 12U Little League Indiana State Champion and Regional Qualifier for the World Series team were recognized Sunday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington during the IU Hoosier Women’s basketball game against North Western.

The team players and coaches, Corey Chastain, Casey Jones, and Justin Hout were recognized.

The team was presented with a signed IU basketball from the IU Hoosier Women’s Basketball Coach, Teri Moren.

Bedford was represented in the 12U Little League Great Lakes Regional for the first time.

Bedford’s 12U team won its first state championship in July 2023, edging HYR (Floyd Central) 3-2 in the title contest. Bedford advanced to the regional level, a double-elimination tournament featuring state champions from Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Michigan.

After defeating Martinsville (12-1), Franklin (9-0), and Greenwood (12-0) to win the District 12 title, Bedford swept through Jeffersonville (5-1), Wabash (8-3), Brownsburg (6-5) and Floyd to claim the state crown.
