Winter Utility Shutoff Moratorium can prevent utilities from being shut off

INDIANA – The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) has assisted 77,600 Hoosier households this year, approximately 15,000 more than last year.

EAP also protects participants from the Winter Utility Shutoff Moratorium so that they don’t see a disruption in service during the designated period. Households that are not eligible for and/or have not applied for EAP may be at risk of being disconnected from utilities.  Moratorium protection lasts until March 15. It cannot restore someone’s power but can potentially prevent service from being disconnected.
