Child suffers severe burns in fire

WASHINGTON – A young child was seriously burned in a fire and airlifted to Indianapolis.

The Washington Township Fire Department responded to a fire at 2416 East 150 South in Washington at 3:15 a.m. Monday.

The incident involved a camper on fire. The caller, Traver Grubb, reported he and his 5-year-old son Tyler were injured.

A helicopter was requested for Tyler, who suffered severe facial burns.

The Daviess County Kids Fire Relief Fund has requested community support. The funds raised will aid the family with cash, gas, or restaurant gift cards. Donations can be made by contacting Chris Clymer at 812-698-1026. Donations may also be dropped off at the fire station at 200 Harned Avenue.
