Up to an inch of snow is expected tonight

INDIANA – The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook this afternoon for Bartholomew, Brown, Daviess, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Martin, and Monroe Counties.

Arctic high pressure over the region will allow for below-zero wind chill values this afternoon.

A quick-moving weather disturbance may produce a trace of up to an inch of snowfall this evening and overnight. This could result in slippery road surfaces. Be prepared for minor snow accumulations if traveling this evening or tonight, as driving could become difficult.

A prolonged period of frigid temperatures will continue through the coming week. Air temperatures will be in the single digits Tuesday and Tuesday night. Wind chills may approach -20 degrees for parts of the area.

The bitterly cold temperatures will raise concerns for ice jams along area rivers and streams from late this weekend into next week.

More accumulating snow could hit the area Thursday into Friday with two to five inches.
