Intoxicated teens arrested for causing disturbance

BEDFORD – Bedford teens were detained early Saturday morning after Bedford Police officers responded to a report of juveniles causing a disturbance in the 1000 block of 17th Street.

Police detained a 15-year-old and 17-year-old on a charge of illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage. A 14-year-old male was detained on charges of illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

When police arrived they found the caller’s flower pot and a tire that was under the flower pot had been thrown in the alley.

A male told police he saw the juveniles running toward a home in the 1000 block of M Street.

As one of the officers arrived near the home they heard noises coming from a blue Chevrolet Suburban parked behind the home.

Police found several individuals hiding underneath blankets in that Suburban. Officers ordered the teens out of the vehicle but they continued to stay hidden under the blankets.

Police were able to convince the teens to unlock the doors.

Police could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

One of the males became confrontational with the officer. Another female refused to exit the vehicle and finally complied to exit. However, she continued to act belligerent and also pulled away from the officer when he was placing her in handcuffs.

While detaining the teens, officers saw a male walking aggressively toward them with a golf club.

An officer drew his service weapon and ordered the male to drop the golf club and get on the ground. He eventually complied. The male was detained. The male told police he heard the female screaming and thought someone was assaulting her. The male was then released from the scene.

Police say the teens had been drinking.

No marijuana was located, but police found two bottles of alcohol underneath one of the back seats.

The three teens were given a breath test and both tested positive for alcohol.

The teens were transported to the Bedford Police Department and juvenile probation was alerted. The teens were released to their parents with a summons to appear in court on December 27th at 9:00 a.m.
