PLAINVILLE – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office confirms one person passed away in a single-vehicle accident on County Road 700 North
At approximately 1:42 a.m. on Sunday, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call of a single-vehicle accident on County Road 700 Noth east of County Road 200 East, in Plainville.
Preliminary investigation indicated a 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling east on County Road 700 North and failed to negotiate a sharp S curve in the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and into a ditch.
The driver of the Pontiac was identified as 21-year-old Shawn Pershing, from Plainville. The front seat passenger was identified as 19-year-old Breyden Pershing, of Elnora. Shawn and Breyden are brothers. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
Breyden Pershing was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Shawn Pershing was transported to the Daviess Community Hospital with a possible broken knee and ankle and then transported to St. Vincent in Evansville.
The investigation is continuing.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Plainville Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, and Briggeman’s Wrecker Service.
