Former Ascension St. Vincent Dunn Hospital will become the home of the Indiana Center for Recovery

BEDFORD – The former Ascension St. Vincent Dunn Hospital at 1600 23rd Street in Bedford will become the home of the Indiana Center for Recovery.

The Bedford clinic is the ninth Indiana Center for Recovery operated by Haven Health in the state. Other locations are in Bloomington, Mishawaka, Jeffersonville, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Lafayette, Merrillville, and Carmel.

Haven Health Management, a national provider of addiction and mental health services, acquired the building in November. They hope to have the facility opened in the next 12 to 18 months and will employ around 200 people including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, dietary services and behavioral health technicians, and other staff members.

“At Indiana Center for Recovery, we recognize the difficulties in battling addiction and offer personalized, evidence-based care in a secure setting. Substance dependencies, including drugs or alcohol, can rapidly engulf a person’s life, adversely affecting their career, personal relationships, and health,” they wrote on its website. “Our Bedford facility provides a soothing atmosphere with chef-prepared cuisine and diverse leisure activities, focusing on evidence-based treatment methods.

Nearly one in 12 Hoosiers, almost a half million people, meet the criteria for having a substance use disorder, according to an Indiana University fact sheet on addiction.

According to the State Department of Health, Indiana had the 19th-highest overdose death rate in the U.S. in 2019.

Indiana Center for Recovery will offer the following services:

Levels of Care – Addiction Treatment Center

Detox

The inpatient drug and alcohol detox program provides a safe, supportive environment for clients to heal. The program includes individualized medical supervision by an addiction medicine physician, nursing staff 24 hours per day/7 days per week, and daily sessions with therapists or psychiatrists.

Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient provides an environment where patients can engage with addiction while also offering round-the-clock care from trained professionals. Advantages of residential treatment include providing patients with backup support systems in an environment that eliminates distractions.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial hospitalization provides a structured program of outpatient services as an alternative to inpatient care. It’s more intense than doctor’s or therapist appointments, but it doesn’t require overnight stays which can make this option much less disruptive.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) offer a solution for those suffering from addiction who need help controlling their symptoms but don’t want the hassle of living away from home or being admitted into intensive treatment facilities.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-assisted treatment is a type of treatment that combines medication with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders such as opioid addiction. The goal of MAT is to reduce the negative consequences of addiction and improve the patient’s overall health.

Alcohol Addiction Treatment

The Alcohol Addiction Treatment program provides evidence-based therapies, medication-assisted treatment, and ongoing support for long-term sobriety. Its teams of specialists and therapists deliver personalized care to address underlying issues contributing to addiction.

Drug Addiction Treatment

The addiction treatment center offers personalized treatment plans to help individuals overcome drug addiction. Services include detoxification, therapy, counseling, and aftercare support to ensure a successful recovery. They offer compassionate care for lasting recovery.

Levels of Care – Mental Health Clinic

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Dual diagnosis is when someone has both a mental disorder and an alcohol or drug problem. These conditions occur together frequently, with half of people who suffer from one also struggling with another at some point in their lives – usually as part of the same complex situation that can worsen.

Inpatient Mental Health Treatment

Inpatient care is a level of treatment for those with mental health disorders that provides 24-hour watchfulness. This can be seen as the most intensive form because it offers constant monitoring and safety, making this best suited to individuals who have diagnoses like major depression or bipolar.

Bipolar Disorder Treatment

There are several treatments available for bipolar disorder, including medications and psychological counseling (psychotherapy). Education about the illness can also help control symptoms with support groups providing an important aspect too.

Medication Management

Professionals will help you find treatments that work for your needs and will provide unbiased information about medicines, care pathways, and treatment options so it’s easier than ever before – both in choosing what is best suited towards YOU as a person or family member/friend.

Ketamine Therapy

Ketamine is an FDA-approved drug that can be used to treat medication-resistant depression in patients who may not respond to traditional SSRIs. SPRAVATO® is indicated for the treatment of PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and comes in a nasal spray formulation.

TMS Therapy

The TMS therapy center offers a safe, non-invasive treatment for depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. It provides personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs, with expert clinical care and ongoing support to ensure optimal outcomes.

Veterans Program

The veterans program offers specialized care for those who have served our country. Services include mental health treatment, substance abuse counseling, and therapy for PTSD and other related conditions. There is a range of evidence-based treatments to help veterans achieve lasting recovery.

Genetic Testing

The Genetic Testing Center offers a comprehensive analysis of your DNA to help guide personalized medication decisions for mental health conditions. Advanced testing technology examines specific genetic markers that impact medication response, allowing for more effective and tailored treatment.
