Troopers investigate I-65 homicide, man found dead inside vehicle from gunshot wound

INDIANAPOLIS – On Sunday, December 3, at approximately 1:47 p.m., Indiana State Police Dispatchers received a 911 call about a man possibly slumped over the steering wheel in a stopped vehicle at the top of the ramp from I-65 northbound to southbound Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The first Trooper arrived on the scene at 1:52 p.m. and found a man in the driver’s seat of a grey Nissan van who was unresponsive. The trooper immediately called for medical assistance and began emergency medical aid. The unresponsive man had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. 

Indiana State Police Detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The deceased man was identified as 52-year-old Luis Martinez of Noblesville. Investigators found what appeared to be bullet holes on the passenger side of the Nissan. 

Detectives are seeking anyone who may have been driving in the area at approximately 1:45 p.m. and may have a vehicle equipped with cameras to please contact ISP.
