MITCHELL – Firefighters from two volunteer fire departments battled a building fire Saturday night at 201 Doc Hamilton Boulevard.
When firefighters from Mitchell Marion Township and Orange County Rural District 2 arrived at 9:23 p.m. the structure was engulfed in flames.
The callers reported hearing loud explosions before the building erupted into fire.
The building was owned by Taylor Group Properties LLC and is located off a gravel road off Doc Hamilton Boulevard near the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters battled the blaze for a little over an hour before bringing the blaze under control.
Police officers from both the Mitchell Police Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department closed Doc Hamilton Boulevard while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
There were not any injuries from this fire reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
IU Lifeline Ambulance and Duke Energy also responded to the scene.
