False registration leads to drug bust

PAOLI – On Wednesday, November 30, Indiana State Trooper Mackenzi Alexander stopped a vehicle for having a plate belonging to another vehicle on State Road 37 in Paoli.

Trooper Alexander became suspicious of drug activity, and a Paoli canine unit was called to assist.

The dog detected the presence of narcotics, and a search was performed. Police found a small amount of meth on the driver, 37-year-old William S. Raines, of Milltown, and inside the vehicle.

Raines was arrested without incident and transported to the Orange County Jail on a charge of possession of meth.

ISP Master Trooper Timothy Weisenberger and officers from the Paoli Police Department assisted at the scene.
