Daniel Greeno

According to a probable cause affidavit, a warrant was issued for 40-year-old Daniel Greeno, who is homeless, on charges of burglary, residential entry, auto theft, unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief.

On July 1, at 8:17 p.m. officers responded to a report from a woman that an unknown male had stolen her white 2004 Cadillac Escalade from her driveway and fired two shots at the residence in the 400 block of Ingram Road.

Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the stolen vehicle.

The caller told police she was sitting on the couch in the living room with others when she heard what sounded like two gunshots. She went to the window and saw a white male standing in the backyard near the window hunched down. The male came up to the window and looked inside. The male then went to her door and started pulling on the door attempting to get inside. The door was locked.

The male then got into the woman’s Escalade that was parked in the driveway, drove through the backyard and over a fence, and proceeded onto State Road 37.

The female said she last saw the stolen Escalade traveling south on State Road past Johnny Junxions.

Two Husqvarna chainsaws, that were in the garage in the back of a side-by-side and a Topcon Laser Transit contained in a yellow box, two DeWalt Sawzall’s, cord powered, yellow in color
in a black case, were also stolen.

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, police received a message from Harrison County, stating the stolen Escalade had been recovered, secured, and towed to Shaffers Towing Recovery & Auto Repair in Corydon. The stolen chainsaws and other tools were also recovered. They were found in the vehicle.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Department deputy, Floyd County deputies, and an Indiana State Trooper stopped the stolen vehicle that was being driven by Greeno.

During the felony traffic stop, police found Greeno with marijuana and drug paraphernalia. There was also a passenger in the vehicle Lesley Carr.

Greeno told a trooper he had stolen the vehicle from a McDonald’s parking lot. He said once he ran out of gas he was going to abandon the vehicle.

He was detained and transported to the Harrison County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, criminal conversion, and operating a vehicle while never licensed. Carr was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
