WASHINGTON — Today, Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03) released the following statement after an individual pled guilty and was sentenced for harassment and felony intimidation, which included graphic death threats toward the Congressman and his family:

Representative Jim Banks

“My family’s safety is my number one priority and threats of violence are not something I take lightly. This has significantly impacted my family and I’m grateful for the Office of the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney and local law enforcement for taking this matter seriously.

I especially want to thank Allen County Prosecutor Mike McAlexander and Deputy Prosecutor Adam Mildred for their tireless work on this case. I also want to thank Indiana State Police Detective Clint Hetrick, the U.S. Capitol Police, and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department for swiftly identifying, locating, and arresting the man who threatened my family. I appreciate their round-the-clock work to keep our community safe.”
