Three area schools celebrate veterans with Veteran’s Day ceremonies

LAWRENCE CO. – Various schools in the Lawrence County area each hosted events to celebrate and thank our veterans. These schools took time to show appreciation for the armed forces and those that fought to keep up safe and those that continue to work to keep us safe.

Lawrence County Independent Schools

LCIS Veterans Day Program 2023

Mrs. Fugate, the LCIS 3rd and 4th grade students, and the Middle School Choir put on a wonderful program Friday morning, followed by their Veteran’s Program at 1:30 p.m.

Bedford Middle School

The Bedford Middle School held their own ceremony for our veterans at 9 a.m. Friday morning, and any veteran who came to the school that day got a free Veteran’s Day T-Shirt from DNA Designs.

Burris Elementary

Burris Elementary’s Veteran’s Day program featured patriotic art displays, music selections, and thoughtful words, as well as two veteran guest speakers, Airforce Vet. Cody Lamm, and another purple-heart recipient Rick Ramey.

These events show the appreciation our community has for the men and women who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice every day for our country so that we enjoy freedom and the ability to follow our dreams and convictions – whatever those may be.
