Teen arrested after robbing IU student at gunpoint

BLOOMINGTON – Police arrested a Morgan County teen in connection to a battery and armed robbery of an IU student on October 22.

Police arrested 18-year-old Jack D. Hobbs IV on felony charges of armed robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, and intimidation.

Hobbs was taken into custody by deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department following an investigation by Indiana University Police and the Monroe County High Tech Crime Unit.

Early on Sunday, October 22, Hobbs is accused of robbing an IU student at gunpoint near the 13th and Fee parking lot.

The student victim reported the robbery around 3 a.m.

Hobbs, according to police, offered to give the victim a ride back to campus following an off-campus party.

According to the Indiana University Police Department, Hobbs reportedly drove the victim to the parking lot at the 13th Street parking lot where he battered and robbed the victim with a handgun.

A cell phone, watch, backpack, shoes, and wallet were stolen from the student before the male suspect fled that area.
