Firefighters respond when controlled fire gets out of hand

BLOOMINGTON -Firefighters from Monroe Fire Protection District and Ellettsville Fire Department responded to West State Road 45 and South Darrell Drive on Monday when a report that a brush fire got out of control and was spreading toward a house.

While en route Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Central Dispatch advised they were receiving multiple calls and reports that the fire had reached the house.

Firefighters arrived to find a brush fire along the side of the highway that had spread along a fence near the house. Firefighters checked the house but thankfully there was no fire damage to the home.

West State Road 45 was temporarily shut down while firefighters worked to contain the fire.

Engines 39, 29, 22, 81, Brush 29, 23, Battalions 22, 29, and Chief 2-2 responded to the call.
