Canine Deny Joe alerts deputies, man detained on meth charges

JUDAH – On Thursday, November 2 around 10:00 p.m. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Harrison Fleetwood and Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington conducted a traffic stop along Crest Motel Road.

After observing indicators of criminal activity, Marshal Harrington deployed his canine Deny Joe, who alerted police to possible drugs in the vehicle.

In the vehicle, police found meth and drug paraphernalia. Officers detained the driver 42-year-old James Wright, of Heltonville, on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
