Woman arrested after confrontation over Halloween costume

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested after Bedford Police officers responded to a 911 call at 2:19 p.m. on Monday, October 31 reporting a physical domestic fight at 1515 23rd Street.

Breanna Moses

A female caller reported that 31-year-old Breanna Moses had “hit her in the chest and knocked her over”.

When officers arrived they found Moses and a male arguing in the front yard. Officers separated the two and the male returned inside the home while Moses got into her vehicle.

Officers spoke to the male who was seen arguing with Moses.

The male told police Moses was the mother of his children and she had been harassing him all day about a Halloween costume for one of their children. The male stated that he communicated to Moses that she could have the costume and he would drop it off at his mother’s house for her to pick up later in the day. But instead, Moses came to his home wanting the Halloween costume. Moses shoved the female caller causing her to fall backward onto the ground and causing the woman to suffer an abrasion to her right elbow and redness to her chest area.

The male attempted to step between the women to de-escalate the situation.

While the female caller was on the ground she began recording the incident on her cell phone.

Police say video footage captures the female caller on the ground with the male in front of her, preventing Moses from getting any closer to her.

Later in the video, Moses is seen shoving the male causing him to have to step over the woman lying on the ground.

The female caller requested to file charges against Moses.

Moses told police she went to the home to retrieve a Halloween costume. She said the male refused to leave the costume in her mailbox, but said he would leave it at his mother’s house for her to pick up. She said when she arrived at the home to get the costume, the female caller stormed out of the house “like she was going to do something”. Moses stated she felt the female caller was angry and was fearful she would hit her. Moses did admit she pushed the woman and the male did get between the two women. She told police the male shoved her.

Police detained Moses on charges of battery and she was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
