VERSAILLES – Recently, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter announced that Trooper Derek Eggers, a seven-year ISP veteran, is being promoted to a detective position assigned to the ISP-Versailles Post.
Detective Eggers is a 2010 graduate of Columbus North High School. He attended IUPUC where he graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree. Det. Eggers worked as a corrections officer with the Bartholomew County Jail for over six years prior to being hired by the Indiana State Police in October 2016.
Det. Eggers was assigned to the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post after graduating from the ISP Academy. Throughout his career, he has been a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator, and a member of the Marijuana Eradication Team. He has additionally worked at the Indiana State Police summer camps since 2017 and has been the director of the Columbus Law Camp since 2021.
Det. Eggers competed in the competitive Indiana State Police promotion process consisting of written testing, interview, supervisor recommendations, and superintendent’s review which resulted in him being promoted to the detective’s position.
Det. Eggers will be assigned to conducting criminal investigations in the Indiana State Police-Versailles District, which consists of Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland Counties.
