Indianapolis man arrested for dealing a controlled substance

NEW CASTLE – An Indianapolis man was arrested after a trooper from the Pendleton District located oxycodone tablets and synthetic opioids during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near the 120-mile marker in New Castle.

On Monday, October 30, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Trooper Avery Weisbrodt was conducting a directed enforcement patrol on Interstate 70 near the 118-mile marker when he noticed a white Ford Taurus traveling over the posted speed limit. 

Trooper Weisbrodt initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke to the driver.  During the interaction with the driver, Trooper Weisbrodt noticed signs of criminal activity and contacted Henry County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Brandy Pierce and her K9 partner Zoro to assist. 

After Sergeant Pierce and K-9 Zorro arrived, Zoro performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. Zoro gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the car was conducted. 

The officers located approximately 95 pill tablets of suspected Oxycodone, 28 tablets of Hydroxyzine, 13.5 grams of the suspected synthetic opioid known as Isotonitazene, and 26 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.  

The driver, identified as Kenneth B. Beeler, 31, of Indianapolis, was arrested and preliminarily charged with possession of a narcotic drug, dealing a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, and possession of marijuana.

Trooper Weisbrodt transported Beeler to the Henry County Jail without further incident.
