Man killed in single-vehicle accident on Boatman Road in Scott County

SCOTT CO. – A southern Indiana man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday. 

According to Indiana State Police Sergeant Tracy Spencer from the Sellersburg Post, shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police were alerted to a possible crash on South Boatman Road, a short distance south of West Lake Road.  Authorities were informed of the possible crash by an automated alert from an Apple watch. 

According to Sgt, Spencer a gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling south on Boatman Road.  For an unknown reason, the car traveled across the northbound lane and off the east side of the roadway and collided with a tree. 

The driver, 48-year-old James C. Lasher of Underwood, Indiana, was unresponsive and rushed to Scott County Memorial Hospital.  Tragically, Mr. Lasher was pronounced deceased after arriving. 

There were no other passengers, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision.  Investigators believe a medical event may have initiated the crash.

Scott County EMS, the Vienna and Scottsburg Fire Department, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the crash.
