Lt. Gov. Crouch, IHCDA launch crowdfunding campaign for Gregg Park Pickleball Court Restoration

VINCENNES – Vincennes will soon restore its pickleball courts if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by Dec. 29, 2023.

If successful, the project led by the Vincennes Pickleball Club will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch

“We are excited to possibly renovate this space so Vincennes residents can reap the benefits of an active lifestyle,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “Physical activity has an immense impact on one’s health and quality of life. These pickleball courts will make physical activity more accessible, attainable, and fun for the community.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to restore the Vincennes Pickleball courts to facilitate pickleball events in the area, promoting health and wellness in the community.

Vanessa Purdom

“The Vincennes Pickleball Club and the City of Vincennes are excited to announce this campaign,” said Vanessa Purdom of the Vincennes Pickleball Club. “Pickleball is not only the fastest-growing sport in the nation, it is also the fastest-growing sport in our city. Our courts are enjoyed by many but are in need of restoration. We are actively campaigning to raise funds to provide the major upgrades our courts deserve. We need our community’s help to create a wonderful environment for all. Please consider making a donation to help us achieve our goal.”

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum

“Pickleball is quickly becoming one of the most popular recreational activities in our city parks,” said Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum. “People of all ages are enjoying open play and planned events. The pickleball courts provide a needed space to reconvene as a community after the pandemic. The restoration of the courts will allow for this community camaraderie to continue for years to come.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $9.6 million in public funds and an additional $7.8 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
