Lt. Gov. Crouch, IHCDA launch crowdfunding campaign for Milltown Bridge lighting

MILLTOWN – Milltown will soon shine brighter if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $10,000 by Dec. 29, 2023.

If successful, the project, led by the Milltown Economic Development Committee, will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch

“We’re thrilled to see this vision for Milltown put into action,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “CreatINg Places is a dynamic program that has benefited communities of every size across the state, and the addition of LED lighting to the beautiful Milltown Bridge will charm visitors for years to come.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to add colored LED lighting to the recently renovated Milltown Bridge, which crosses the Blue River and serves as an entrance to Milltown, drawing interest to downtown.

Erin Henry, Co-Chair of the Milltown Economic Development Committee

“Milltown is on the move and quickly becoming known for displaying local art in interesting ways,” said Erin Henry, Co-Chair of the Milltown Economic Development Committee. “The addition of colored LED lighting to our bridge will provide citizens and visitors with visual art, as well as safety when walking at night through our beautiful town. We plan to change the colors of the lights with the seasons and holidays, making Milltown an attraction you will want to visit throughout the year.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $9.4 million in public funds and an additional $7.7 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
