Disturbance at Becky’s Place leads to arrest

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested after Bedford Police officers were requested at 10:54 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25 to Becky’s Place at 1108 5th Street.

The caller reported there was an intoxicated woman there being combative with staff members.

When police arrived they made contact with 45-year-old Angela Evans in the front office.

Police say Evans was intoxicated with slurred speech and unsteady on her feet. She began demanding officers put her through field sobriety tests.

The staff told police that Evans entered the establishment intoxicated to the point of vomiting. Evans was asked to stay downstairs so staff members could keep an eye on her in case medical care was needed. Evans then became combative and pushed a staff member leaving a bruise on her right side.

While police questioned other staff members, Evans continued to be disruptive. She was warned several times by officers about her conduct.

The injured woman refused medical attention.

Police also reviewed security camera footage of the incident.

The staff member did not want to file charges against Evans saying she didn’t believe Evans meant to do what she did.

Evans was detained on charges of battery, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
