Witches, transformers, and pirates at Heltonville’s Fall Festival and Trunk ‘or Treat

HELTONVILLE – Heltonville’s 6th Annual Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat was Saturday night from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and families flocked to the event in costume to collect candy, share costumes, play on the inflatable slide, and enjoy an evening of wholesome family fun.

A cheerleader joins the line for candy.

The inflatable slide was frequented by children who were finished trick-or-treating or those who just wanted to play.

The littlest Wednesday Addams by Scarlett Wagner, 5, daughter of Rebecca Wagner.

This little one spent a good amount of time doing a Wednesday dance impression, then somersaulting and cart-wheeling around the park. Her mother barely kept up.

Sisters Olivia “Livvy”, 4, and Claire, 6, dressed as Belle and Rapunzel.

Rapunzel, Claire insisted, was her favorite Disney princess.

Claire and Livvy have come to the festival every year with their mother. When the event began six years ago, the trunk-or-treat hadn’t been started yet. Claire, just an infant at the time of the first festival, won the baby contest. They return every year.

Olivia Swing, 8, as Belle and her witchy friend Willow Tidwell, 8, wait in line at Heltonville’a Trunk or Treat with their younger siblings Harrison Tidwell, 4, a Bumblebee transformer, and Zhona Tidwell, 4, with her day-of-the-dead outfit.
Pirates Sadie and Dave Miskuff blow bubbles and hand out candy from their ship-themed vehicle. A tentacle crafted by Sadie, and a ship’s mast made by Dave highlight spooky hints of a Kraken.
Eden Todd, 16, a kind witch, gives sweets to children at the trunk-or-treat.

Eden came with her grandparents Scott and Tammy Todd for the event. They’re “repeat offenders” as Eden put it, attending last year for the first time and coming back in 2023.

Most of the trunks had a theme. Pirates, ghosts, mermaids, witches, and more. It was a grand evening full of Halloween spirit and plenty of costumes.
