Judge orders prison sentence for Mitchell woman who failed to comply with probation terms.

BEDFORD – On August 12, 2023, A Mitchell woman was sentenced to the Indiana Department of
Correction by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline after failing to comply with the terms of her
probation.

On October 24, 2019, Tara N. Grissom, 41, Mitchell, pleaded guilty to Burglary, a Level 5 felony, as a part
of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. She was sentenced to 2,190 days in the
Indiana Department of Corrections, with 2,102 days suspended to probation.

However, while on probation, Grissom was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6
Felony, Theft, a Level 6 Felony, and Criminal Trespass, a Class A Misdemeanor. She pleaded guilty to
Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony, on October 12, 2023, in a negotiated plea agreement
with the State of Indiana. She was sentenced to 2 years, all executed, in the IDOC and admitted to
violating her probation.

As a result of her guilty plea, Judge Cline revoked Grissom’s suspended sentence, sentenced her to 1,500
days in the IDOC, and terminated the probation as unsuccessful. The two sentences are to run
consecutively.
