Man is reported to police for throwing rocks and food at two local businesses

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday, October 11th after Bedford Police officers were requested to McIntyre Brothers after a report of a man throwing rocks.

When officers arrived they met with an employee in the parking lot who reported the man throwing the rocks had not damaged any vehicles or the building so they didn’t want to pursue charges. The male 35-year-old Hogan Abner had left the business.

While speaking to employees officers received a second call reporting Abner was inside Hometown IGA on N Street throwing food.

When officers arrived there they were escorted to the back of the store to the lady’s restroom. An officer knocked on the door and Abner, who attempted to disguise his voice as a female responded. The officers told Abner to open the door and exit the restroom or officers would force open the door.

After several minutes Abner exited.

Management requested Abner be removed from the property and issued a no-trespass order.

Officers escorted Abner to the front of the store but he kept stopping. While attempting to get Abner to sign the no trespass order he began kicking store displays. He then attempted to walk to the back of the store saying he had forgotten his cell phone in the restroom. Police say Abner’s phone was in his pocket.

Abner then began “talking crazy” and “thought there were people around him”, which there weren’t. Police say Abner was “twitching” and “couldn’t stand still” or “form sentences”.

For his safety and the safety of others, Abner was detained on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
