Evidence shows Washington fire was intentionally set

WASHINGTON – Fire investigators from the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office are asking for the public’s help with information regarding a fire on Tuesday in downtown Washington.

Fire crews reported to a historic commercial building, the former Coca-Cola building at 107 West Main Street, in Washington at about 9:13 p.m. Tuesday. The red brick building currently is rented for storage, and nobody was inside at the time of the fire.

The Washington Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the blaze before requesting the Indiana State Fire Marshal to help determine the cause and origin of the fire. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set at several locations within the building.
