Stonegate Arts and Education Center is hosting a Skilled Trades Showcase on October 5

BEDFORD – The Stonegate Arts and Education Center is hosting a Skilled Trades Showcase for south central Indiana on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

The event will feature 12 to 14 skilled trades, including electricians, carpenters, plumbers, pipefitters, bricklayers, and more.

Held primarily outside, the showcase is closing off J Street to facilitate the demonstration of heavy machinery and the trades in action. Students and the public will be able to see the different functions of equipment and skills with their own eyes.

The showcase also presents a great opportunity for students and other members of the community to speak directly with skilled trade workers and employers, and the chance to learn about apprenticing programs.

The Showcase has three sessions. The first two sessions are targeted at local schools in grades 11 and 12. The third session is open to the public.

  • First session: 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Area schools are asked to sign up for the event beforehand. asking schools to sign up – mostly outside with demonstrations and heavy equipment.
  • Second session: 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
  • Third session: 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The third session is open for anyone to attend.
