Special operations add new tactical flight officer to its ranks

PERU – Recently, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter announced the reclassification of Master Trooper Adam Duffitt to the position of Tactical Flight Officer. He earned his assignment into the Special Operations Division (Aviation Section) through written testing, job performance evaluations, and a competitive selection process. Master Trooper Duffitt will work out of the Special Operations Hangar in Greenwood, IN.

 Duffitt is a native of Kokomo, IN, and a 1999 graduate of Taylor High School. Duffitt is a 16-year veteran of the Indiana State Police Department. Duffitt graduated from the 67th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in July 2007 and was assigned to the Peru District, where he primarily worked in Howard and Tipton Counties.

 Duffitt has pursued additional responsibilities as an Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) instructor and as a Field Training Officer (FTO). Duffitt is currently a member of the Indiana State Police Underwater Search and Recovery Team and a former member of the high-performance vehicle program. 

 In 2010, he was recognized as the Indiana State Police Peru Post Trooper of the District. The award is given annually to the trooper who personifies integrity, professionalism, and a well-rounded work ethic. Duffitt was selected by the command staff at the Peru District for dedication to his job, traffic and criminal enforcement, community involvement, instructor ratings, and other services performed for the department beyond normal expectations.
