Report of suspicious man leads police to find nine grams of meth

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Thursday on drug charges when Bedford Police officers responded to the area of 29th Street and Shawnee Drive after a report of a suspicious male.

The caller reported the man was wearing black pants with black suspenders and a gray shirt and was walking south on Shawnee Drive.

Robert Bailey

Officers arrived in the area at 4:51 p.m. and found 40-year-old Robert Bailey in the 2000 bock of Great Escape Drive. He was sitting on the tailgate of a blue Chevrolet S-10 that was partially parked in the wood line.

When Bailey spotted the officers he disappeared around the truck near the wood line and then came back around.

Officers spoke to Bailey and asked if he had anything illegal. Bailey was very emotional during the interaction with the officers.

In his pocket police found crystal meth mixed with his loose change. Officers then walked around the truck and found two pill bottles that contained baggies of crystal meth.

Canine Zazu alerted officers to more drugs in the truck. In the truck, police found a cut straw with meth residue and a burnt marijuana cigarette, and a plastic baggy containing crystal meth. All together officers seized 9 grams of meth.

Bailey was detained on charges of possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia and transported to jail.

Jacksons Heavy Haul towed the truck.
