Orange County deputy spots stolen vehicle, two Bedford men arrested

ORANGE CO. – Two Bedford men were arrested on Wednesday after Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies were on the lookout for a stolen vehicle out of Lawrence County.

Orange County Deputy Marcus Ashby spotted the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled.

Officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Paoli Police Department, French Lick Police Department, and Orleans Police Department pursued the vehicle.

During the pursuit the vehicle crossed into Lawrence County and Lawrence County units provided assistance.

The vehicle eventually reentered Orange County and crashed into a field in Northwest Township.

Once the vehicle crashed, the driver of the vehicle resisted law enforcement where two TASER deployments occurred.

The driver, 29-year-old Rodney Miller, of Bedford, was finally taken into custody and his passenger 29-year-old Samuel Bultman, also of Bedford, was taken into custody without incident.

Multiple items of drug-related evidence were located inside the vehicle.

Miller faces charges of theft, resisting arrest with a vehicle, resisting arrest by force, possession of meth over five grams, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction.

Bultman faces charges of possession of meth over five grams, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of marijuana.
