ISP Bloomington Post made more than 300 traffic stops during Labor Day weekend

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington District Troopers conducted saturation patrols on Thursday, August 31, and Friday, September 1, to focus on aggressive, distracted, and impaired drivers.

There were 308 traffic stops initiated during the two days, and Troopers issued 96 traffic citations and 212 warnings. Traffic stops also included investigations for impaired drivers, and nine drivers were arrested for operating while intoxicated including three for operating a vehicle while under the influence of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

The traffic stops also resulted in several criminal investigations including two arrests for possession of marijuana, five arrests for minor consumption, and three (3) arrests for possession of false government ID.

Troopers worked with area law enforcement agencies including the Bloomington Police Department, Ellettsville Police Department, Indiana University Police Department, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department to ensure that Hoosier motorists had a safe Labor Day weekend.
