Bloomfield driver arrested after high-speed pursuit

BLOOMINGTON – While on traffic patrol Tuesday, September 5, at approximately 8:20 a.m., on southbound Interstate 69 near Bloomington, an Indiana State Trooper observed a silver pickup truck traveling at an extremely high rate of speed.

Trooper Steven Jordan attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating his red/blue lights, but the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated with speeds reaching between 70 and 120 miles per hour. The 2017 Chevrolet silver pickup truck was driven by a male, later identified as Christopher A. Weaver, 45, of Bloomfield.

Weaver traveled to the State Road 46 westbound entrance ramp from I69 and continued west on State Road 46 past Curry Pike, Smith Pike, and Union Valley Road. Weaver refused to stop until he pulled into the parking lot of the Richland Bean Blossom Nursing Home, located at 5911 West State Road 46 in Ellettsville, where he was immediately taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest by vehicle, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and reckless driving.

Troopers from the Bloomington District, Officers from the Ellettsville Police Department, and a Deputy from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the traffic stop and Weaver’s apprehension. Weaver was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail for the following:
