Woman arrested after entering couple’s home uninvited

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman faces a charge of residential entry after an incident on July 22, 2023.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on July 22, Bedford police officers were called to a home at 2213 H Street after a report of residential entry at 6:55 p.m.

When police arrived the elderly homeowners told police that an unknown woman entered their home uninvited and then walked through the house. She then entered the bathroom. She asked the elderly couple if they would give her a ride to the store. They told police that the woman then began talking about “babies having their heads chopped off”.

The home had a smart doorbell and captured video footage of 46-year-old Shannon Rishforth entering the home.

Police found Rishforth at her mother’s home at 2111 H Street.

Rishforth told police she did enter the home but the woman had invited her in.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and a warrant was issued for Rishforth’s arrest on a charge of residential entry.
