Come “Paint the Town Purple and Celebrate Recovery” on Friday, September 8

BLOOMINGTON – Come “Paint the Town Purple and Celebrate Recovery” on Tuesday, September 8, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on the south lawn of the Monroe County Courthouse.

This celebratory event, held in honor of National Recovery Month, offers a chance to connect with and support those in recovery from substance use disorder. It will include music from Darran Mosley with MisFit Toy Karaoke, public speakers, a photo booth, and yard games. Local recovery and social service agencies will be present to share information on their services.

“We are always glad to celebrate the gains made by those in their recovery journey and support those along the way,” stated Monroe County Commissioner Penny Githens. Githens is the Commissioners’ representative on the Monroe County Substance Use Disorder Awareness Commission (SUDAC).

SUDAC is hosting the event along with planning partners that include the Indiana Center for Recovery, Amethyst House, Indiana Recovery Alliance, Centerstone, Monroe County CARES, and the Monroe County Health Department.
