Get ready for fall: Bedford leaf collection guidelines

BEDFORD – As autumn approaches, leaves will begin to turn and fall to the ground. Familiarize yourself with the City of Bedford’s leaf season guidelines so you know how to properly dispose of the leaves your raking endeavors result in.

Leaf season pickup begins October 2 and runs through December 1 or even later if needed, on your trash day each week.

  • Any leaves you want to be picked up with the vacuum can not be bagged.
  • Alleys with leaves are picked up by calling (812) 279-9222.
  • If you don’t mulch your leaves, rake them into a pile within 3 feet of the curb in your lawn.
  • Do not rake leaves into the street as leaves clog drains.
  • Do not place leaves on water meter lids or too close to trash totes.

Leaves can be placed in waste totes year-round if you call to schedule a pick-up. No bags are to be put into the waste totes.

Yard waste tote costs are shared, a 96-gallon tote is roughly $26.

Schedule your pickup at (812) 279-9222.
